u can change the background of any local drive without any thirst party ( software ) .Just view this video or follow the steps below it(this trick works fine in xp) :-

1. copy the code below in blue and paste it in a new notepad file
and then .......
[.shellclassinfo]
iconfile=%systemroot%\system32\shell32.dll
iconindex=127

[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}]
iconarea_image="C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper\Crystal.jpg"

iconarea_text="5x55555"
VeVRA sources=don't delete the tag above , it's
there for XXXXX purposes -
[ExtShellFolderViews]
{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}
{5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262}={5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262}
[{5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262}]
PersistMoniker=Folder.htt
PersistMonikerPreview=%WebDir%\folder.bmp

2.save the note pad file in the particular drive u want to change background as desktop.ini
3. remember to save the notepad file with name desktop.ini
4.now u are almost done , open the drive where u saved the file and then open the desktop.ini file .
5.here must the specify the image used as background location . see the code in red like this C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper\Crystal.jpg just change this to the image location u want to choose as background ( in this i have used crystal.jpg file as background whose location is in windows->web->wallpaper )
6.its done just save it and then refresh (just close the drive and open it again )
7.one more thing u can do is change the icon names color . just replace the code in pink by something like 0xsixdigit html color code .( for white u can write 0xFFFFFF etc )

thats it if u still find any difficulty in changing the background just view this video and u will get it by yourself . Enjoy .
